◯なぜ人類に「不安」が必要だったのか？
人は昔から命をつなぐために、さまざまな危険から身を守ってきました。
たとえば、新たな住処を探すために新天地を探索するとき。
新たな土地には外敵がいるかもしれませんし、生活していけるだけの食べ物を確保できるかどうかもわかりません。
とにかくポジティブで、何も考えずに突き進んでしまっては、命を落としてしまう可能性のほうが高いでしょう。
そこで大切になるのが「不安」という感情です。
不安があると、未知の危険に備えて慎重かつ計画的に行動することができるでしょう。
そして、人類の長い歴史の中で、そうした「不安」の感情を強く持った人類が生き残ってきた経緯もあります。
すなわち「不安」はわたしたち人類が生き延びてくるうえで、重要な感情だったのです。
◯「不安」の役割
不安は、命の危機を敏感に察知し、危険を回避しようとする感情です。
不安の強い人は、危険を察知して未然に失敗を防ぐ能力の高い人といえるでしょう。
逆に不安の感情が少ない人は、失敗をしてしまうリスクが高くなってしまいます。
◯「不安」が生まれるしくみ
小さな子どもは高いところから落ちたり、熱いものを触ったりした時に「痛い」「怖い」といった経験を繰り返すことで、それが命の危険へつながるものだということを学習します。
そのため、次に湯気の出たお湯を目にしたときや、高い場所に行ったときには「不安」や「恐怖」を覚え、自分の行動を制限するのです。
このことで、自分の命を守っているのです。
しかし、人間の場合、不安の感情はさまざまな状況で生まれます。
たとえば、自分の将来に対して。
もしも、わが子に障害があったとしたら、あるいは離婚や倒産などのトラブルに見舞われたとしたら、将来を不安に思ってしまうのは当然です。
人間は「安定」を求めるため、予想ができない状況は「不安」なのです。
そして、この不安の感情は、無くす必要はありません。
むしろ、無くそうとすればするほど不安の感情に意識がフォーカスされてしまい、不安の感情に囚われやすくなってしまいます。
◯「不安」にはどう対処したらいい？
小さな不安がどうしても気になってしまう人は、不安を無くそうとしていませんか？
そして、ネガティブに考えてしまう自分自身を責めてしまっていませんか？
問題は「不安そのもの」よりも、あなた自身のその考え方です。
まずは「不安は当然の感情で、無くせないもの」と認識しましょう。

そして、意識を不安にフォーカスしてしまわないよう、別のことに向けていきましょう。
ここで「またネガティブに考えてしまって、自分はなんてダメなんだ」と考えてしまうのは逆効果です。
自分を責めてしまうと、自分自身を肯定的に認める「自己肯定感」が下がり、人生がより苦しくなってしまいます。
人生を楽にできるかどうかは、自己肯定感を高めることができるかどうかにかかっています。
自己肯定感を高めるには、自分を認めること。とくに、自分のダメな部分、弱い部分を許して認めてあげることが大切なのです。
不安の感情自体が悪いわけではないんですよ。
不安は、あなたの命を守る大切な感情です。不安に思ってしまう思考も、あなたの一部ですので、しっかりと認めて受け止めてあげましょう。
